WHIPIC Fellowship and Internship
Opportunities for the Future of World Heritage Sector
"Do you know there are Fellowship and Internship opportunities at WHIPIC?"
WHIPIC is running the Sejong-WHIPIC International Fellowship & Trainee Programme(called SWIFT). Fellowship is open for experienced professionals of World Heritage and post doctoral researchers who want to conduct personal research or collaborations in South Korea. The internship is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students who want to gain experience in the field of World Heritage and international cooperation.
The SWIFT programme was first launched in 2023 and had a total of four participants including 1 fellow and 3 interns, and WHIPIC plans to continue the programme in 2024.
The fellowship will be based in Sejong, Republic of Korea for a total of three months, offering mid/high-level professionals in the heritage sector a unique opportunity to refine their skills. Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend, a round-trip airfare, and housing for the duration of the programme. They will gain hands-on experience through collaborative work with international experts, networking opportunities, and participation in workshops and seminars.
We are currently in the final stages of selecting our first fellow for the 2024 Fellowship, which starts in May. We plan to operate the second fellowship in 2024. The official call for the second fellowship will be posted on our website.
The internship also takes place in Sejong for a total of three months and provides international students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of World Heritage. Selected interns will receive an internship stipend for the duration of the internship and will receive a certificate of internship at the end of the programme.
