Meeting to Discuss Collaborative Strategies between UNESCO WHIPIC and KISTI
Information Management Office is exploring external collaboration with one of major organizations in information industry of Korea.
Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) has been working with UNESCO headquarters since 2022 to strengthen international cooperation in open data-based research and development.
*KISTI: A specialized research institute aims to contribute to the promotion of national science and technology and industrial development. It was established in 1962 as its predecessor, the Korea Science and Technology Information Center (KORSTIC), has been building extensive capabilities and infrastructure in the field of national science and technology information for over 60 years.
Information Management Office is communicating about the collaboration opportunity with the KISTI Digital Curation Center's Data Standardization Team to promote the informatization of World Heritage interpretation and presentation, integrating scientific and technological information. The data standardization techniques and science and technological information encompassing both humanities and nature would contribute to enhancing the Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) of World Heritage, which consists of cultural and natural heritage.
The collaboration between the two organizations is expected to promote data collection, integration, sharing, and utilization of data acrooss the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences for World Heritage interpretation and presentation.
We will carry out the project through technical cooperation.
