Regional Workshop on Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites in the Arab Region

    29 Apr 2024

In April, WHIPIC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (hereafter ARC-WH) in Bahrain. As the initial phase of this partnership, we jointly organised the 'Regioanl Workshop on Interpretation and Presentation of World Heritage Sites in the Arab Region.‘

By signing this agreement, both organisations have committed to establishing a framework for collaborative efforts in research, knowledge exchange, and policy formulation, explicitly focusing on enhancing the expertise of heritage interpreters.

The workshop took place in Manama, Bahrain, from April 28 to 30, 2024, bringing together 27 heritage managers and interpreters from 17 Arab countries. Participants engaged in Problem-Based Learning (PBL) sessions to address challenges encountered in heritage interpretation in the field, facilitated by theoretical lectures, group activities, and field trips.

WHIPIC is excited about the potential of this workshop to enhance heritage interpretation skills and practical applications among World Heritage interpreters and managers. We eagerly anticipate the next steps in our collaboration with the Arab Centre, which will build upon the success of this workshop. Stay tuned for more information on our upcoming projects!
