WHIPIC: We-Pick! is excited to unveil its third episode, "Lumbini: The Mother of Buddha." Dive into this newly released story about one of the world's most sacred heritage sites!
This episode invites viewers to explore Lumbini, not only as the birthplace of Buddha but also as the place where his mother, Queen Mayadevi, gave birth to him. Instead of the traditional focus on Buddha, we shift the lens to celebrate the profound role of motherhood through Mayadevi's story. Lumbini holds great cultural and spiritual significance, but at its heart, it is also a place that honors the strength and sacrifice of a mother.
WHIPIC: We-Pick! is a WHIPIC project that creates engaging interpretive content through short animations about World Heritage sites and shares them online.
This year, under the theme "Finding Our HER-itage," we've selected three World Heritage sites that highlight the contributions of women and are presenting their stories. After featuring Belgium's Flemish B?guinages and Nigeria's Osun-Osogbo Sacred Grove in our first two episodes, this episode takes us to Lumbini, Nepal, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1997.
