2026 World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation Academy Successfully Concludes

    — Exploring the Multilayered Values of Heritage —

The 2026 World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation Academy was held on May 20–21, 2026, in Haenam-gun, South Korea, with the participation of 29 site managers from 19 World Heritage-related institutions.

The program featured lectures on World Heritage nomination, sustainable conservation management in South Korea, and the interpretation and presentation of World Heritage sites. Participants also joined group activities to explore diverse heritage values, including OUV (Outstanding Universal Value), and develop new interpretive narrative themes.

Building on the lectures and site visit to Daeheungsa Temple, one of the components of “Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries in Korea,” participants developed program ideas reflecting the multilayered values of each heritage site.

The Academy provided a meaningful opportunity to strengthen practical understanding of World Heritage interpretation and presentation.
