The 1st Practical Training on World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation in 2023

28 May 2023

On-site Practical Training

The first 2023 Practical Training on World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation was conducted on May 17 in the center's multipurpose auditorium. This training is part of a capacity-building program targeted at domestic cultural tourism interpreters and was expanded from last year's pilot education aimed at local government officials in charge of domestic world heritage sites. A total of 49 cultural tourism interpreters from 26 regions, including seven world heritage site staff, participated in this training.

The training aimed to deliver not only a comprehensive overview of world heritage but also to explain what world heritage interpretation and presentation is, and how to interpret the heritages at actual sites. Particularly, by sharing the on-site experiences of active cultural tourism interpreters, a sense of empathy was formed among the interpreters.

According to the post-training survey, most participants expressed satisfaction that they gained not only an understanding of world heritage but also insight into international trends in heritage and the new academic trends in use today. Based on the survey results, our center plans to improve this training and continue to operate the capacity-building program for cultural tourism interpreters annually.
