<World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation Capacity Building Programme in Republic of Korea>

WHIPIC offers a unique opportunity for professional growth and development with the '2024 World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation Capacity Building Programme in the Republic of Korea'. This program, held in Yeosu, Republic of Korea, from June 3 to 5, is specifically designed to enhance the interpretation and presentation capabilities and skills of World Heritage managers and interpreters in the Republic of Korea. It provides practical training, divided into an 'Interpreter Course' and a 'Manager Course', each tailored to their specific needs. The focus is on theoretical lectures, practices, discussions, and field trips, all aimed at equipping interpreters and managers with the practical skills and knowledge they need to excel in their roles.

In the "Interpreter Course," we share various perspectives and knowledge that should be reflected when understanding and explaining World Heritage. Additionally, each participant will be able to develop and demonstrate a scenario for the World Heritage properties that they are interpreting and develop their commentary through peer feedback.

The 'Manager Course' is a platform for site managers to explore how World Heritage can significantly contribute to the local community. By understanding the World Heritage system, interpretation, and presentation, you will be empowered to plan and design interpretive programs that address real issues in their communities. This course encourages the participants to consider the context of changing international trends, understand Korean policies, and discuss the role of interpretation and presentation. It's about empowering them to make a tangible difference in their communities through World Heritage.

The World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation Capacity Building Programme in the Republic of Korea, now in its third year round starting from 2022, has already seen the success of 172 participants from 103 local governments, institutions, and universities nationwide. These include a diverse range of stakeholders such as interpreters, managers, researchers, and the youth. Their involvement and diverse values and stories will enrich the World Heritage properties. The World Heritage Interpretation and Presentation Capacity Building Programme is a journey of continuous learning and growth. Please stay tuned to WHIPIC as a part of this inspiring journey!
