UNESCO's 207th session of the Executive Board granted approval

UNESCO’s 40th session of the General Assembly granted approval

Launch of the preparatory office for the International Centre for the Interpretation and Presentation of the World Heritage Sites
December
The “Special Act on the Conservation, Management, and Utilization of World Heritage Sites” was revised

Domestic procedures were completed for the Korea-UNESCO Agreement for the establishment of the Centre in December

2021

The Board of Directors constituted

The General Assembly was held, where the Centre’s initiators discussed relevant issues
December
The Cultural Heritage Administration approved it as a special corporation

Promote the understanding of the true meaning and value of World Heritage sites and enhance the international awareness of World Heritage protection
Effectively implement the 1972 Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage and contribute to the UN’s sustainable development and peace
Raise the public’s understanding and awareness of World Heritage and the importance of its protection through interpretation and presentation
Contribute to the effective implementation of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention and solve the heritage interpretation issues with the recognition of multi-layered memories
